Contentment
Contentment floating through my head.
We are in a great spot and feeling good! Both then in the back of our mind wondering when things are going downhill because how could they seem so great.
But we are content. And I think I'm most pleased because I've really had a focus to assess my gratitude each night and it HAS made such a difference. I really am SO happy with how so many things are going and this is enough, but ending the day with it has helped my day-to-day mindset immensely. The whole family can feel the peace coming from daily gratitude assessment.
My older two kids are more aware of sacrifices we make to help them have safe, enjoyable lives. They are so mature and sweet and really rarely overly self-involved.
I've been on top of my four-year-old, without him knowing, trying to help him be more grateful and seeing the bigger picture as he has started framing the world. At the end of the day, if his attitude is a little sour, we make a drawing of something good that happened that day. It takes one second and he has started finding more things on his own that were good about the day.
I could list the difficulties or I could list the good things, but whichever I do will pass to my kids, and I'll choose to deal with the hard things with grace, be thankful for the good things, and worry about what I can affect. :)
