Europe- Part 7- Delft

Thursday we hopped on a train to Delft and it was more beautiful than I had ever imagined. I felt like I was back in time. Or in a fairy tale, or a life that would be cool to live, but sadly I live in Utah.

Addison was just eating up all the time with Grandma and Grandpa and here they are playing on the train.

We took a million pictures for a million hours right when we arrived because the canals were SO amazing. I've mentioned before that I'm a water person and I really think it was a huge part of why I loved Holland so much. Nothing could be better than hanging out in a new place next to the water.

For those of you who don't know, my mom's name is Barb, so naturally we had to get a three generation photo by Barbara Street!!

We walked around for a long time, decided to all go in on a property next to the canal for our summer home (I wish) and then hit an Italian place for lunch. (We are not the most adventurous when it comes to trying Dutch food, so we stuck to what we know.)

Also, during this meal, a youngish cook from the restaurant was so nice it was one of those moments I'll never forget of honest human goodness. There was no changing table in the bathroom and he saw me struggling in the basement foyer to change Addie while holding her midair. He cleaned out an entire storage unit in a snap, grabbed some towels and made me a changing table, complete with toys to entertain her and a snack. If you want to feel appreciated for being a mother, go to Europe and everyone will dote on your child.

After, we got some ice cream, Barrett got some fresh stroopwaffel, and we hit the cheese shop.  Could anything be better! I wish we had stores devoted to cheese here! I love cheese. I could eat it for every meal. Mmm. Holland.

We strolled through town a bit more, took a lot more pics, hit some cool little shops and headed home!

The wall at the station matched my pants perfectly! How could I not take a pic!

Back in Amsterdam for the night, we walked along the canals and took a few (million) pictures of awesome house-fronts and bikes. We walked past the Anne Frank house, which amazed me, because you forget what types of horrible things have happened in such amazing places rich with history in Europe.

My dad had been waiting the whole trip to get a picture of this intersection (below) and I'd say it was worth waiting for an hour to get it! This is one of the only places where the canals intersect and have bridges in this certain way.  It took them forever to light up, but this picture is worth the entire trip to him I bet, and it will probably be hanging in our house forever.

For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.
