Spontaneity
I've been feeling like it need a little more of it in my life.
One night a few weeks ago I spontaneously went to Zumba and I rediscovered my favorite way to work out ever. Then I realized that my life is pretty routine. The thought continued to cross my mind that while I am off track I should do a few more spontaneous things and not be so planned. I tried going to a spur-of-the moment Hip Hop class the next week, only to come home in a vicious mood. If you've been, you probably understand my frustration. I will tone down the impulsiveness a bit.
So, this morning, without planning it at all, just a decision made over the chocolate muffin at the breakfast table, I went to the temple. I know, watch out, I'm a mad woman. I went to the Salt Lake Temple, which I have never been to.
It was simply astounding. I have never been inside a more beautiful building in my life. Kelly (Durham) and I were just talking about all the fascinating buildings she saw in Italy and how amazing it is to see such devotion from man to God in the form of architecture and art. It seemed like every nook and cranny I inspected showed adoration for our Heavenly Father in its beauty. And I realized how much I like gold, paintings, and huge doors, all of which are amply present in the temple.
Then, continuing with my spur-of-the-moment decisions, I decided to do sealings. Boy was this a good choice. They really needed me and the older people were just thrilled to have someone under 60 working with them on an early Monday morning. I also came out of the temple with more love for Barrett than I've ever had. Ah, our wonderful life.
All in all, it was a wonderful trip to the temple that I really needed and started my off-track time with a good dose of spiritual and spontaneous.
*I shall keep you updated on the wild happenings of my completely work-free life in the next month.*
