Will we be speaking Happy Words?
Our thought of the day was based on the scripture story of 1 Nephi 16-18. There is a family traveling in the wilderness, all going through hard things.
Our list of things:
Walking endlessly,
Very tired,
Carrying own supplies,
Sleeping on hard ground,
Shooting animals to get their own meals,
Had to leave all their things at their old house.
We then had a discussion about how everyone in the family had to deal with the same things, but some chose to deal with it with what we called "happy words" and some dealt with it by complaining.
The kids and I also made a list of all the EXTRA things that Nephi (the positive one) had to do that would have definitely made all of my kids complain.
Repeatedly climb to the top of a mountain-- (to pray, but really, they'd for sure complain),
Go on long outings-- to catch food for everyone even the people complaining at you,
BUILD A BOAT! -- I could see all of us thinking "What?!"
Our family has been trying to change our tone to be "smiling people" who say "happy words" and I really think this lesson (that we made out of LEGOs and actually participated in) truly did sink in. We'll count it as a win!
Thanks for leading me to that thought today Lindsay Parker!

Personal Thought of the Day
Even when we are on the right track, following the commandments, and asking for answers, the answers we receive will very likely require more work and may not be easy in and of themselves. The more we are diligent in prayer and close to the Lord, the better we can stay on track. With how difficult things are even on a good day, imagine how hard things will be if we don't stay close to the Spirit.
Thanks for leading me to that thought today Lindsay Parker!
