Four Months Already?!
When my parents used to say that time goes faster as you get older, I thought I understood what they were talking about. I couldn't believe that all the sudden I was actually in high school or that high school was over, or eventually that I was suddenly done with college and had a job. Now I realize that every day is about ten times faster than those days were. Addison is different every single day and is growing up way faster than I even thought was humanly possible. Months two-four have been a joy--so much easier than the first two--and I'm really sad they are gone.
Lately Addison...
... learned how to let you hold her while sitting instead of standing
... stopped sleeping in a swaddle at night and is in a little sleep-sack,
... started sitting in the big girl part of the stroller instead of attaching her car seat for her to lay in,
... started STAYING AWAKE FOR A WHOLE WALK! They used to put her to sleep like magic.
... purposefully rolled from her back to her stomach,
... accidentally rolled from her stomach to her back when she suddenly was great at tummy time,
... found out how to move in a complete circle while laying on her back watching TV,
... decided to start putting things in her mouth automatically, like her hands or her duck or her burp cloth--she basically wipes her own mouth!
... giggled for the first time,
... is entranced by looking at things with words,
... has so much fun watching her mobile and shows her excitement by lightning quick arms and kicks,
... tried to eat applesauce and got about 1/20th of it in her mouth,
... started being so distracted while eating that she stops whenever she hears music, I smile, someone talks, or I take a bite of food or sip of water. This has made it difficult to multi-task while nursing, but I love it! She just smiles up at me and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
... started sucking the straw cap every time I drink from the actual straw. Just like mamma.
Addison had her four month check-up last week (and shots, egh) and was 15 lbs. 12 oz. (86%). She is 26 inches long (98%). Her teeny head is still only 60%, but at least it's not 10% like when she was born! One time she grew a whole inch in four days. She also barely slept that week and ate every second. She wears 6-12 month clothes. I look at her baby pictures almost every day and can't believe how different she is.
I didn't think the day would come when I could go somewhere on purpose just to get out. But at about two months we got there. Now its a joy. She is so interested in everything. She's great in her car seat-for now :) She gets a lot of compliments on her hair and is starting to give random people smiles.
I used to dread nursing in public, or at home for that matter, and now she eats in about 10 minutes and it's so easy. Nursing was probably the biggest challenge of my life so far. It is so easy now that I find myself getting very sad that some day she will eat regular people food and I won't get my cuddle time.
Her sleeping is so predictable and she even naps each morning for a few hours now. Her morning nap started at about three months and now she's cut down her afternoon napping to two naps instead of three! What a smarty. I'm truly amazed at everything babies bodies know how to do. But I really miss her when she's sleeping.
We went on a trip to AZ to see Barrett's parents at the beginning of November and Addison didn't make a peep on the plane! She ate and slept and ate again and we were there! She slept 10 hours each night and went swimming for the first time. It was nice to relax and read a book and have a few more hands to take care of Addison for a week.
Tummy Time :)
At about two-and-a-half months this was a rarity and her head got too heavy REALLY FAST. |
Now she's suddenly a pro. |
