No Greater Love

We can do no great things, only small things with great love.
~ Mother Teresa

Today I read one of Mother Teresa's books called No Greater Love.  Earlier in the year, I took note to really focus on service and record all that I did each day.  It was rewarding to see that it is an important part of my life and that service to others is part of every day.  Along with my records, I took the time to look for inspirational quotes about service.  I found so many thoughts from brilliant men and women, and many from Mother Teresa.  About a year ago I read a biography about Mother Teresa and have always been an amirer of this astounding woman.  I was happy to hear her thoughts, compare mine to hers and gain another perspective about the love of God.

Two parts really stood out to me, so I thought I'd share them!

On Love
I feel that too often we focus only on the negative aspect of life--on what is bad.  If we were more willing to see the good and the beautiful things that surround us, we would be able to transform our families. From there, we would change our next-door neighbors and then others who live in our neighborhood or city.  We would be able to bring peace and love to our world, which hungers so much for these things.

On Children and the Family
I think that the world today is upside-down.  It is suffering so much because there is so little love in the home and in family life. We have no time for our children. We have no time for each other. There is no time to enjoy each other, and the lack of love causes so much suffering and unhappiness in the world.
...
Bring prayer to your family, bring it to your little children. Teach them to pray. For a child that prays is a happy child. A family that prays is a united family.  We hear of so many broken families. And then we examine them: Why are they broken? I think because they never pray together. They are never in prayer before the Lord.
