350 Days
It is 350 days until my next birthday. At that point I will be 25 years old. That's a bit old to not have read the Bible in its entirety. There is a point where you just don't have an excuse any more and I think 25 is it for me.
While thinking about that, I was thinking about the things that make me the happiest and bring the most peace to my life. So I thought, for my records, I'd make note.
Here is my list:
1. Being nice to Barrett
2. Praying
3. Going to the temple
4. Reading the scriptures
5. Learning new things
Now for a brief thought on each:
1. Barrett is awesome. He teaches me a thousand things every day and brings a new perspective to my life that I couldn't really progress without.
2. How could you not feel happy and peaceful when speaking to a Person who loves you and whose only goal is to help you? Even if it is a silent prayer in my heart it brings me comfort.
3. Temple=indescribable peace! I have been at least once each month this year and my life has been undoubtably blessed each time.
4. Nothing in the world has so much truth to it as the scriptures. I CANNOT read them without feeling better than I did when I started. Not feeling happy? Read the scriptures. Feeling too busy? Read the scriptures. Things not falling into place? Oh wait, I probably am not reading the scriptures enough.
5. I read a lot and I just can't get enough of it. I've started switching up genres more often lately. Also, I learn 1,000,000+ new things every day at work. Also, (see above) I have Barrett in my life.
So here is my goal:
I am going to read the entire Old Testament, New Testament, and Book of Mormon in the next 350 days.
At one point our ward had a challenge to read the BOM in a month. Did it. How many pages per day was that? 17ish.
How many pages per day will this be? 6ish. Totally possible. Here I go!! I might even finish early.
Since I am usually my own cheerleader and the most dedicated reader of my own blog, here's a little encouragement, me:
YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!
I am a big fan of writing down goals on paper. It works for me. Here is one of many articles I've read about it.
