Miranda

When I traveled to France in 2006, one of my favorite days was when we went to the Parfumerie Fragonard. Winding up through the picturesque hills of `Eze next to the sea took my breath away--but then I walked into the factory. I felt like I had traveled somehow into another world where everyone around me was also a romantic. The tour guide spoke of "noses" who spent years of their lives training to perfectly choose ingredients for perfumes. The shop was filled with little gold bottles and I wanted every one. I could only choose a single variety, so after much anguishing I ended up with Miranda. I got one for my sister too... which she later gave back to me...which I am actually very happy about.

Every time I choose to spritz this on my day becomes whimsical. I'm moved more by the music I hear on the way to work. I'm more positive with my students. I'm reminded that its okay to be a romantic and that if everything feels wonderful then I'm not crazy, but more sane for figuring that out. Is it weird that something so simple changes my life so much?

Now my perfume is gone. Months ago, after finding that Miranda was currently out of production, I contacted the laboratoire and asked that I be notified when it was back on the market. Hoity-toity or desperate? I believe it was desperate. They finally emailed me!!!! But it is sooo expensive. What kind of average, 20-something, American teacher special requests perfume that then needs to be ordered and shipped from France?! We'll see how many days go by before I take the leap and order it. Though exorbitantly priced, I do think the purchase is inevitable!

oops, I hope I didn't offend you by giving it back! I like things that smell like clean laundry :) I think you should get it!
