It's not a honeymoon without a trip to the ER...
Our day started out like all the others here in Kauai with an episode of 24. Who knew it would turn in to such an eventful one.
After hitting the beach and laying out reading for a bit, we decided to put on the sunscreen (finally moved to 15 from 30 SPF) to go snorkeling. Naturally (being that we are both terrified of getting burnt again) we started playing catch with the football to let the sunscreen soak in before hitting the water.
Then it all begins. Barrett hits his pinky on a catch. I'm thinking, "This is odd. Barrett never lets anything hurt him." So he starts walking toward me holding his hand. He gets there to tell me that he thinks its broken. As I look at it he says, "I think I'm going to black out." Later I found out that he had already blacked out at this point and does not remember saying it, whereas I thought if he was conscious enough to tell me this he must be fine.
Seconds later he starts falling to the ground. Legs and arms straight, face forward. As he falls I am thinking he is doing his fake fainting scene that we practiced earlier in the week in the ocean. Half way to the ground I'm thinking, "Wow, why isn't he putting his hands down." Then, scariest moment of our marriage yet, he's laying on the ground not moving, face in the grass/dirt. I had to tap him to wake him up and he could remember none of what happened. Last he remembers is playing catch and walking towards me.
Right to the left of the icon in the bottom corner is where the event took place.
After reviving him, cuts on the face and all, letting him rest, packing up camp, and driving home, we decided to head down to Lihue to go to the ER since his head had been hurting too (I was convinced of a concussion.)
X-rays, heart scan, a hospital bed complete with warm blanket, and many hours later, nothing is wrong. They did however give him an overly large splint to help the pinky. Note hospital bracelet.
He has concluded the night by saying he feels like a patient from "House" because "there has definitely got to be something wrong with him that just no one can figure out. You don't just pass out from a jammed pinky." I agree.
