Month 5 Update!

Someday I know I'm going to want to remember everything from my first pregnancy. It seemed that life would stop and everything would revolve around having this little gal, but that has not been the case. Things are as normal as ever--other than the fact that time seems to move much slower than it has the past few years.

I have all these funny milestones in my mind that I know one day I'll forget.  Since the moment I knew I was pregnant my mind has been unable to hold on to a thought for longer than a second! I have to write everything down and it definitely isn't helpful at school which requires constant multi-tasking! My mind is a steel trap no longer.

Here are a few things I DO remember:

Week 3- Felt a bit dizzy a few times. I just knew I was pregnant but the test said I wasn't!

Week 4- Finally the test was positive!!!!!

Week 5/6- Started to feel a bit/completely queasy this week at all times. I could smell things ten miles away. My energy level died and my Christmas Workout Plan was shot. The mornings got VERY hard and I didn't recuperate until about 3 or 4 each day.  School was terrible! I couldn't eat, or stand. All the kids had the flu though, so I fit right in. Luckily, it was the week before Christmas so I could do fun, long projects.

Week 7- By then we were in Kauai for Christmas Break. I prayed and prayed and prayed that I wouldn't be sick the morning we left (at 4:30) and that I wouldn't get sick on the plane.  Miraculously, I was fine, with only a bit of nausea during the layover!

Hawaii=hard. I could eat something once, but then never wanted to see it again. That made for difficult planning for meals with the fam. Then I got actually sick, with flu-like aches. Then I ran on the beach (mistake) and got so sore I could barely walk (add to the aches). Then I wanted to mostly die.

Week 8- Back to Utah. 21 was the high temperature all week. We bought pizza, just the thought of which caused me to be ill for days. I smelled it one morning and that is only time I actually threw up.  It was at the gas station, in a snow bank, in the dark, on the way to work. Couldn't make it inside! Glad it was before I hit the highway though!

Week 9- Finally went to the doctor!!!!!! We heard the heartbeat! It was around 174 bpm. Oh my gosh. I've never been so excited in my life. My stomach was still completely flat so I had started doubting (other than sickness) that I was actually pregnant. The day before I went to the doctor was LAST day I was sick. Yay!

Week 14- Doctor again. I looked different but had not gained any technical weight. Worry. They said it was okay. Also, the baby's heartbeat was down to 153.

Week 15- Small bump. Indicator: had to wear my loosest pencil skirt to church.

Week 16- Had to put away all my pencil skirts and form-fitting stuff. They are in a box so I don't see them every day and want to wear them.

Week 20-Finally had to put away my normal pants. It was sad. I cried very hard :) Poor Barrett. He's takes my crazy very well. I've really only had what I would consider a hormonal break-down like twice.

I also went on my last run that week. I guess being able to run for half of the pregnancy was better than none at all!

Week 21- All the sudden I had a noticeable bump! That week the baby started moving. Mostly around or after 3 pm. I loved it! Every time I tried to let Barrett feel she would stop. But he got it once! I can't believe the whole process still.

My mom and sister visited that week and I finally got some maternity clothes. Since it's hard to feel great all the time, I'm glad I have a fun little wardrobe to brighten my days.

Week 22 (Now)- She is moving a lot more than before. I can definitely count on it in the afternoon and evening. Also if I lay on my back.

I'm getting a bit tired again at work. Luckily by this time of the year the kids trust me a lot, so it's easy to manage them. But still, all I want to do is go home and go on a walk and relax and that's just not an option!

Can't wait for more excitement to come.  I have a feeling that the next 4 months will not be quite as easy as these last 5 have been...

Though I only have a few readers...tell me about your funny milestones you remember if you have a second!

I loved this!! I was pregnant with Will when we went to Hawaii too. About 6-7 weeks. I was deathly afraid I would get sick on the airplane since I already get sick as it is. Lucky for me, it was smooth sailing. While we were there we ate some pulled pork from a shack. I can not even stand the thought of pulled pork sandwiches now. Literally, I haven't been pregnant for 2 years and it still kind triggers my gag reflex (even as I type this).

When did you find out you were having a girl!! I missed that! I'm so so so happy and excited for you. Your little girl is going to be your little mini me. Absolutely beautiful!! More pictures of that cute belly! And although I'm sure you have a million people to consult during pregnancy, let me know if you have any questions. Obviously I'm not a pro, but having done it twice, I can relate :)

Congratulations!!
